The Ultimates comic book series by Marvel Comics is a take on The Avengers. Set in contemporary America, the Ultimates join forces to combat a yet unnamed and surmounting evil. Chapter One: Super Human, focuses on how Captain America came to be in our contemporary society.

I was thrilled to be able to make a contribution to such a beloved franchise. I was the primary animator, as well as Creative Director, and relished every second of it.

Produced in 2002, I was later thrilled to see how much the Avengers movie franchise took from this telling of the Avengers story. Interesting co-incidents like Samuel L. Jackson being drawn as Nick Fury, later to be actually cast for that part. The design of the Avengers Helicarrier is similar to the film's version, alongside a lot of the character development, and much more.

I felt the Captain America origin story stood on its own, and that is why I singled it out for my portfolio.
